Rd5 ITCC from West Bridgford
Round 5 of the Schumacher sponsored ITCC was held on Sunday 10th February, which took place at the West Bridgeford venue in Nottingham. A number of Mirage drivers attended this race, with Stew Noble, Andrew Carter and Jordan Howe representing Hot Bodies, and Elliott Harper, Ali Graham and Luke Hobson representing Xray. With no practice available, round 1 of qualifying was used as a run to get to grips with the track layout surface. At this point the track conditions were not optimal, but Luke Hobson did well to take 2nd place in the round with his Xray. Round 2 saw a lot of movers and shakers as the traction came up slightly, with Elliott Harper topping the time sheets in 1st position, also driving an Xray. ![]() By round 3, the traction had come up considerably, and in this run Stew Noble upheld Mirage honours with a 2nd place after a clean, smooth and consistent run. Round 4 was predicted to be the rocket round, but unfortunately, damage to the track during the top modified heat meant it had to be halted partway through. However, only two drivers were on for a predicted improved time at the back end of the top 10, so this incident did not affect the results too much. ![]() With qualifying now over, Stew Noble had qualified 3rd, Elliott Harper 4th, Ali Graham 5th and Luke Hobson 7th. Such was the competitiveness at the sharp end of the Modified A final grid, the time difference between Stew (3rd) and Ali (5th) was less than 2 tenths of a second, with Luke only 2 seconds behind in 7th. Andrew Carter was unlucky to miss the Modified A final after having some issues in qualifying. In the 19t class, Jordan Howe did very well to qualify 5th, as he improved his time every round as the traction level rose. In the 19t A final, Jordan Howe recovered well after being shunted down to 10th place after the first corner, eventually finishing in 4th position. In the Modified B final, Andrew Carter took a fine win after an eventful 5 minutes. ![]() In the Modified A final, Elliott managed to work his way up to 2nd place immediately, with Ali right behind in 3rd. This was to be short lived, as Ali was shunted from behind by another car and left in the barriers with a bent bodyshell and last position. As Elliott continued his battle for the lead that saw the position swap between drivers frequently, Stew Noble had worked his way back up to 4th place, a position he would hold for the rest of the race. When the 5 minutes were up, Elliott was back down in 2nd place, with Stew 4th, Ali 5th and Luke 9th. Elliott also took home the Top Junior honours in the Modified class. ![]() Overall a well run and enjoyable meeting, with Mirage cars taking a 50% share in the Modified A final for HB, Xray, Nosram, Orion and Edit.
