BRCA 1/12th National Series - Chesterfield GP
The Chesterfield Auto Racing Society (CARS) has become the keystone club for 12th racing in the UK. The club celebrated its 25th anniversary as a National Host in March this year, an incredible achievement.

Everyone at Mirage would like to congratulate the club members for achieving this amazing feat, and the team drivers that attended would like to thank them for putting on a great event - very fitting for such an anniversary.

The newly crowned Modified National Champion, Andy Griffiths, was in attendance after missing the previous stock Grand Prix held last month in Hereford. Mick Farrell was in contention for 3rd place in the championship, but needed a good result at this meeting! Mark Stiles was keen to make the A final and complete a clean sweep of the A finals this season....it was all to play for.

Qualifying
The HB/GRP/Nosram team came to this event armed with the new GRP 38mm wheels and tyres, and immediately put them to good use, with Mick Farrell and Andy Griffiths putting their Hot Bodies Cyclone 12's 1st and 2nd respectively in round 1. Mick continued on from here and drove some excellent races to end the day in first position by a full 5 seconds. Andy had to settle for 4th and Mark Stiles was in 9th overnight. With one last round on the Sunday morning, it was still all to play for.

Round 6 on Sunday saw a great race between Mick and Andy with both cars matching lap times all through the race, but with Mick loosing a little time on lap 1 due to an unfortunate grip roll, Andy just managed to secure pole position for the final, with Mick in a great second position and Mark up to 8th.

Finals
Andy managed to get away cleanly in all three finals, and went on to take a relatively comfortable victory in each race to secure top spot at the meeting with a perfect score! Mick, on the other hand, had a tough time in the finals! The racing was fast and close and Mick seemed to come off worst in every incident! In the end Mick managed to claim 5th place, the calculators are out now - has this been good enough to maintain 3rd in the Championship? Time will tell...

Mark managed to improve on his grid position in each leg and eventually managed 6th overall - completing his sweep of A finals and capping an excellent season for Mark

Progress during the year has been steady with the new Cyclone C12 and the race team would like to pass on their thanks and appreciation to the CARS club and members for this superb event. Also to all the organisers of the other National Championship events and the BRCA support crew, without these people it would be impossible to hold race meetings!

The team has grown over the course of the season and will continue to do so as the Cyclone continues to set the standard at UK events.
